When Bulldog Custom Leathers started in 2013, we decided that our product would be a custom fit for any body type. We started by offering custom pieces to our friends and small community.

We grew to where we were being invited to vend in a very small space in the rear of the Heretic Atlanta for special events. After several months of this, an agreement was reached with Heretic management and we took over their small shop completely. It was clear that the Atlanta community was hungry for what we had to offer and was asking for more from us. After only a few months in that small shop, we again approached Heretic management and made a new deal. This one included moving one wall of the shop by about 20 feet into some unused space. During the wall renovation, we took the opportunity to install new display cases, new lighting, new fans as well as remove some cabinets to further increase our display space. The renovation had doubled our space that was quickly filled with more of our product as well as just about anything else our customers were asking for.

For the first 2 years, the owners (James and Jeff) worked the Heretic shop every weekend while creating, sewing, assembling and ordering product during the week. Late nights after working all day is what made our business grow. To say we put our blood, sweat and tears into the business is an understatement. All of this work was done in a small bedroom in our condo in midtown Atlanta. After being together for a couple of years, we started looking for a house. Since the business was growing, we needed a larger work space as well as more personal space. Our house purchase allowed us to expand our work space into the basement and now occupies over 1200 square feet.

After the first 2 years, our business grew to the point where we needed staff to help us. When hiring people to work in our store, it’s a very difficult process to allow them to help you with your baby. We started with hiring a sewer and an assembler for our gear and one person to work in the store.

With time away from the store, we started enjoying a place in Unadilla, Georgia named OZ Campground. After talking to management there we struck an agreement to open a small shop in their complex. Spring and summer are party time at OZ even though we open at all times during the year. During the summer, our store there has swimsuits as well as all of our gear that we carry in our Atlanta store.

We now have a full staff in our Heretic store while the owners still work in the store at OZ. Last year, we expanded once again into a mobile service where we have the ability to take a full store to any event in the southeast. Nashville, Knoxville, Charlotte and Orlando are just a few of the places we have been.

During all of our growth, we still hold true to making custom gear to fit any body. In our stores, you will have pieces fit on your body and finished while you wait. If ordering from our website, we will ask for measurements and custom make your requested item.
